According to Hindu philosophy, Yoga sutras are people who invented yoga. Yoga is a composite combination of many different movements and positions which are known as ‘Yoga Pose’. It is also called as ‘Asana’. This forms the core component of yoga. Each and every pose is based on some concepts and all these poses have unique benefits.
Yoga poses are classified mainly into two types, namely: yoga poses for beginners and advanced yoga poses for advancers. This classification is done in order to benefit all levels of people. The names of these poses are also derived based on the action and other characteristics of these poses. For instance ‘Ardha’ is a Sanskrit word which literally means ‘half’. So any yoga pose which starts with Ardha refers to half the value or half the effort. To explain with an example, Padmasana is an asana done in sitting position with the toes of the legs placed over the lap of the other leg. Whereas Ardha padmasana is an asana done with only one leg placed in position as padmasana. It is easier for the beginners to start with ardha padmasana. There are more than 115 basic yoga poses available. A beginner or a person who is interested to know more about these yoga poses can refer to yoga sites and special sites which explains yoga facts history and current trends in yoga.
